Hi, I’m Sara Gottlieb, a Surreal Abstract Mixed Media Artist in California.

Growing up in Brooklyn, I became fascinated by the flow of people, objects, and living things that were constantly in motion around me. I’ve been immersed in art my entire life, as a study in the fine details and complexity of modern existence. I studied studio and fine art throughout my life starting with youth Parsons programs, the Packer Collegiate Institute, and the University of Vermont.

Early in my career, I applied many of these skills in the world of engineering, where I focused on complex data visualization with the goal of encouraging more people to play and enjoy the delights of our bustling world. Working with the 2016 Election polling data with NBCNews, creating interactive data dashboards for Fortune 500 and international companies, and then finally working as the Senior Director of Product Engineering at Skillshare, I had so much fun painting with the brush of computer programming. Growing up in 1990s New York City encouraged me to be creative with where I saw art, and just like the graffiti artists who very kindly decorated the City, I see art and material all around me. I love to use uncommon materials with story behind them, with each piece then becoming it’s own ritual of layering different materials and bringing my surreal abstract dreams to life.

I now reside in Mill Valley, CA, where I spend my days creating art, tending to my garden, caring for my 4 dogs.
